Britain at War wool art exhibition is coming to St Mary’s Priory
The stunning exhibition of knitted and crocheted wartime scenes will be on display at St Mary’s, Abergavenny, for the month of May 2027.
Through 80 intricate scenes, Britain at War examines how Britain navigated World War II from the declaration of war on 3rd September 1939 to VE Day on 8th May 1945. This includes significant events such as D-Day, the King’s Speech, The Blitz, the bombing of major cities, Britain coping with the war – the Home Guard, the Women’s Land Army, rationing, and much more. The 3D wool art display will feature 80 panels and, in addition, there will be life-size knitted displays representing real people such as army leaders and land girls.
Exact dates and opening times are being confirmed, as are special events being held around this wonderful exhibition.
The event will be officially opened by Archbishop Cherry Vann on May 6, 2027. More details of this and the exhibition will be posted here as they become available.
